Camplas Technology Ltd specialise in the design and manufacturing of GRP tanks, chemical storage tanks and particularly bulk chemical storage tanks, with over 55 years of expertise. Our tanks are renowned for their exceptional durability, featuring a unique construction that utilises three complementary winding angles to provide maximum strength. Adhering to the rigorous standards of BS4994, we ensure each tank offers superior performance and reliability.

With over 13,000 tanks successfully operating worldwide, Camplas Technology is committed to providing top-quality storage solutions tailored to the demanding needs of various industries. Whether you require GRP water storage tanks or tanks designed for safely storing highly corrosive chemicals like Sodium Hypochlorite, you can depend on us. At Camplas Technology, we guarantee exceptional quality and durability in every product, ensuring reliable performance wherever needed.

Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP), also known as fiberglass, is a composite material comprised of a plastic resin reinforced with fine fibers of glass. This combination yields a high strength-to-weight ratio, thus making GRP an incredibly strong yet lightweight material. It is exceptionally versatile and can be molded into a wide range of shapes and sizes, thereby making it ideal for various applications across industries.

Furthermore, GRP is renowned for its durability, resistance to corrosion, weathering, and chemical wear. These qualities make it an excellent choice for products exposed to harsh environments. Additionally, these properties ensure a long service life with minimal maintenance required. Common uses of GRP include water and chemical storage tanks, automotive components, boat hulls, and construction products. Due to its adaptability and performance characteristics, GRP is often the preferred material for many specialised applications.

GRP vs. Steel Tanks:

  • Corrosion Resistance: GRP tanks do not rust or corrode, unlike steel tanks, which can degrade over time when exposed to environmental elements and certain chemicals. Consequently, GRP tanks offer a more reliable solution in corrosive environments.
  • Weight: Significantly lighter than steel tanks, GRP tanks make installation and transportation not only easier but also less costly. This advantage simplifies logistics and reduces overall project costs.
  • Maintenance: GRP requires less maintenance over time compared to steel, which may need periodic painting and rust prevention treatments. As a result, long-term upkeep costs are minimized.
  • Durability: GRP boasts a high resistance to environmental factors and can maintain structural integrity across a wide range of temperatures and harsh conditions, thus enhancing its longevity.
  • Customisation: Easily molded into various shapes and sizes, GRP offers greater flexibility in design compared to the typically cylindrical steel tanks, enabling more tailored storage solutions.

GRP vs. Polyethylene Tanks:

  • Strength and Durability: GRP offers superior strength and durability compared to polyethylene, which can be more susceptible to cracking under pressure or extreme temperatures. Therefore, GRP is the preferred choice for demanding applications.
  • Chemical Resistance: Although both materials are resistant to corrosion, GRP generally provides better resistance to a wider range of chemicals, thus making it suitable for harsher environments. This makes it ideal for industrial uses where chemical exposure is significant.
  • UV Resistance: More resistant to UV degradation than polyethylene, GRP maintains its integrity over time, even when exposed to sunlight. Polyethylene, in contrast, can weaken and become brittle, affecting its performance and safety.
  • Temperature Tolerance: Capable of withstanding higher temperatures, GRP is less likely to deform or melt in high-temperature applications compared to polyethylene, offering a more stable and reliable option in extreme conditions.
  • Lifespan: GRP tanks often boast a longer lifespan, thanks to their robust construction and resistance to environmental stressors. In comparison, polyethylene tanks typically face more challenges over time, emphasizing GRP’s superior durability and cost-effectiveness.
